The story of ScandiMate

2015
The idea originated on a construction site in Sydney

Alexander, the founder of ScandiMate, worked both in Labour Hire and later as a sole trader (ABN), with the idea for ScandiMate originating on a construction site.

2018
ScandiMate is officially founded

In August, ScandiMate ApS was established, and the search for the first partner commenced, poised to benefit from Danish quality tradesmen who were eager to come to Australia and experience both the culture and the working life.

2019
The first two craftsmen are ready for the adventure of their lives

The first two tradesmen have been found and are ready for the adventure of their lives. On January 19th, they will depart from Copenhagen Airport to Sydney – marking the beginning of an exciting journey!

2022
We survived, and now we're getting the year we were supposed to have in 2020!
COVID-19 has affected both the company and the rest of the world for far too long. In 2022, ScandiMate expands its operations to include Canada and New Zealand as destinations…

…and we begin consistently dispatching smaller teams of craftsmen to these different locations.

During this time, we have noticed a significant increase in interest from the tradesmen who are eager to embark on these journeys. Additionally, our partner companies have expressed their desire for us to ramp up recruitment efforts, if possible.

2023
Dragons' Den & investment

In the beginning of 2023, ScandiMate appears on the Danish version of “Dragons Den/Shark Tank”, where we are showcased on nationwide television. Ultimately, we secure an investment from the most capable investors to take ScandiMate to the next level.

Subsequently, ScandiMate becomes renowned in the trades industry in Denmark, generating even greater demand and expanding into additional professions.

Competent investors, significant growth, and even bigger plans

One of our investors is Jesper Buch, the founder of JustEat (MenuLog in Australia). You could make the comparison, that instead of connecting someone who wants a pizza, with someone who wants to sell a pizza…

ScandiMate has gained even more strength to grow the business, with some of the country’s best investors taking on the task, both strategically and financially.

Big plans equal a larger and more competent team
After the investment, the ambitious goals, and the massive demand, a larger team was necessary to maintain the high quality of matching candidates with companies.

We have placed a significant emphasis on candidate selection, ensuring alignment of expectations between candidates and what companies are seeking. This ensures the best match but also required additional resources at ScandiMate.

Larger departures of tradesmen every month

ScandiMate is growing rapidly, increasing from sending 5 tradesmen abroad every month to 40-50 tradesmen per month. The demand is high, and we are looking towards a future where we are striving to help bridge the labour shortage gaps in Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
